Ah just my luck!
WARNING: One cuss word or two might offend you ?
Ah the magical fuckery of me jinxing this thing I've planned for so long! My husband's birthday was last May. I've always wanted to book this Fox River cruise so as early as March, I booked ours for his birthday last May! Everything has been planned perfectly. I always have some surprise of some sort and this was one of those plans. I was gonna bring his cake to the cruise have it served for supper. Cruise crew called me a week before - it was early spring and good ol Wisconsin is raining here and there. They were really good tho and we agreed to see how the weather goes. Unfortunately... It got cancelled and we had a raincheck. Strike 1 Weather: 1 | TeamFrank: 0
I rescheduled it to June. Summer, what could go wrong right? Last week of June is supposed to be perfect. Warm, sunny - perfect.
Well of course not for me!!!!! What do you know? There's a storm that brewed a day before the cruise. Wtf ? I waited all day watching the weather hoping the winds to blow it the other way. Nope didn't happen. Weather: 2 | TeamFrank: 0 July. I scheduled it 2 days before the upcoming Friday. Weather was perfect! Sunny, hot actually. Oh wow didn't cancel. We got on the yacht. This is perfect, hoooray!!!! I waited so long! After 4 years of living here I am finally on the cruise. Before we went off, the winds peaked up. Captain was doing the initial safety orientation. "If we see lightning on our path, we turn around and go back. We cannot be caught in the middle of a lightning/thunderstorm for everyone's safety." Sure! I mean those clouds are miles and miles away. WRONG!!!! Darn clouds really wanted to get me. Halfway down the river, lightnings filled the sky ahead. Yes, we turned around!!!! What the flying fuckery is this!? I was almost there... Halfway down, loving the ducks in the river and the nice sunset on the other side... And back we went. Weather: 3 | TeamFrank: 0 I wanted to just get a refund but Ive always wanted to go since I saw this big boat floating down the fox river. One last try - if I jinx it again, I'm done. Today. I scheduled it for today (Saturday). Another supposedly warm sunny day. Guess what?? 2 hour thunderstorm!?!?!? It was supposed to be at 2pm but now it's almost 6pm and it's still raining. I haven't received a cancellation notice yet so I'm still hoping. Otherwise Im getting a refund and buying a darn boat! ??? I was about to put up the white flag, it was still really dark and the cruise is an hour away. I shrugged, told my husband let's call it quits and I'm getting a refund. Hubby, who was very intent playing Battlefield 5 and would normally not answer until he's dead, responded with conviction. Let's go, we're never going if we don't now. He turned on his mic, told his friends he's leaving and off we went. I took out some cash, it was still sprinkling when I got out the car and went into Kwik Trip. Look at that, 3 machines and 2 are broken. Bummer. I got my cash, went out and omg the heavens opened up. I see the light!! ☺️ Hoooooray! Anyways, 15 minutes left and we drove down the street. With 5 minutes left we walked down the riverside. Lots of boats starting to actually get moving. And... I saw the river cruise boat!!!!!!! It's there and it's almost full!
IT HAPPENED WOOT WOOT! The cruise was great, and before we left it was fully booked. We were able to get the spot I wanted so good view. Talked to the Captain and I told him my long ass story about we were supposed to be their first guests for hub's birthday and if the owner says anything bout that unlucky girl - that's me! We laughed. He moved along to the other passengers then went back down.
A few minutes later he came back with more crew and sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my husband, who apparently did not realize it was for him ???? until they gave him chips he can use for free!
