The weekend's been sunny and you have no idea just how happy I actually am! See winters are long here in the Midwest and I truly miss the sun! Not the extreme heat tho, not at all.
AlexBear went out with his friends today, leaving me and the Puzz at home enjoying some good me-time. On the bright side, he dropped off some breakfast before going his way. I cherish those seldom sweet moments.
Now, I got delegated the task of taking Hans to get his nails trimmed. Now, this a first needing to bring him to Petco alone. It was fun, but the pulling and all the excitement was over the top. Can't blame him, he was super happy indeed. Getting pulled by an 80-lb extremely happy puppy can be challenging, but it was worth it. You have no idea just how much I love this baby!
I'm rarely alone, oftentimes Alex and I do things together, so this was my moment to do my stuff! Hooray!
Ah yes, sitting down and relaxing and gardening!
I've always been amazed by how much things have changed. I never would've thought five years ago that I would be shopping for plants and flowers, let alone pots and mulch. I had a different idea of what my future will be. I guess things do change. I'm pretty content the way things are. Flowers do make me happy.
I had a hook last year but it was really short. I never really thought it would end up with the basket on the ground so I decided that this year it will hold the hummingbird feeder... that no bird ever visited (yet).
This year I got a taller shepherd's hook and was pretty happy until I put my baskets on it that turned out to be too heavy. I got new baskets and, welp, still heavy. No I was not very happy. Anyways, it worked for a while until we had a really windy day and it ended up bending and falling on my plants. My sedum ended flat. No fun. At. All. Last week I got a supposedly better hook from Stein's. It was more expensive than the one I got from Joann's but apparently still bendy. As you can see, it's still tilted (I fixed it again after I took the photo and lessened the soil in it).
So what do with the other hook, then? Yesterday we went to Home Depot to price out some treated lumber. I'm gonna be making a raised planter. I thought about buying one instead but I'm not so excited spending $200 on a small planter that I could make myself. I expanded my wood working workshop so this is one of my projects. I don't think I'll be using it this season tho.
Back to Home Depot... I just also wanted to get smaller baskets but I can't find it anywhere so I got myself some small ones with plants. They're on sale so I don't feel so bad about it LOL.
I also replaced the old pots that I had on this bench. I love the rustic look it has now but it's plain pine, no treatment and just stain. May not last so long but so far I love the rustic pink tone that it has.
The garden is not done yet. I'm almost there but there's still a few things that I would like to add. Im hoping that in the years to come it grows and grows. It's a test of patience, I know!
