I have waited a month for this and I'm super happy!
I was just looking through Facebook when I came across this event at the Fire Escape. It's a local art studio here in Oshkosh that does workshops and various events for kids, adults, fundraisers and more. You can also just walk in to do your own stuff by yourself, with family, or friends. I think their specialty is getting to choose your ceramic item and paint it. They will then glaze and fire it for you! They also have other stuff like wood signs and more. I have always wanted to try their ceramic projects since I basically do much of the other stuff, except this because I have no kiln (yet). It's also fun to do it with others! I've been following K9 Odin in Instagram. One of his videos went viral overnight and I couldn't be any happier that it's one of our own. When I saw that there will be a meet and greet fundraiser event for the OPD K-9 team, I definitely has to go!!!! Starstruck!
Have I said I waited a whole month for this? Yes, yes I did! The art stuff, honestly, is a bonus. I love art but dogs AND art... not to mention, it's K-9 Odin (yes I make it a point that Hans' IG likes all his posts) and I get to meet him! Awesomesauce!!
The studio was actually full. Extra full! AlexBear and I chose our item to work on, and an hour later... OMG. OMG. THEY'RE HERE!
Everyone had a chance to say to them and take a photo. K-9 Odin and Officer Fox also came along with a friend and fellow Oshkosh K-9, Lando! He has IG too, and we love all his posts!
I had to restrain myself very hard and not hug. They are working dogs and we have to respect boundaries. I'm just glad to be there and help the OPD as well. Good Boi Rating : 20/10
Both K9 Odin and K9 Lando are so full of personality! I love how they are so well taken care of, while they also are very well trained. Oh but K9 Odin definitely talks. A. Lot!
The officers also toured the participants to check out the squad car and have some chit chat time. I was able to learn more about both of our city's K9s and their team. They're very kind and accommodating. We once got pulled over (a long time ago) when AlexBear and I rode on a moped together. Well, apparently mopeds are for one person only. Oooops! Officer just warned us and gave me a ride home :)
It's Art Time
We took our sweet time meeting the Officer Puppers but we also had to work on our creations! Oh I took this way too seriously! We were one of the last ones to actually finish.
Three coats of the paint is needed to make sure that the colors are bright once fired. Of course, it depends on the effect you want. One challenge tho is that the colors look dull when they dry and the true colors will appear after they are glazed and fired.
Finished Results
It takes about a week for the to finish the process. Got a call and here are our finished creations!
AlexBear often underestimates his talent. He's actually really good!
It was a super fun day and we're really happy with our finished items. Getting to do stuff with family is really nice, and I think it also lets us bond more.
Take time and go do stuff with your partner, kids, parents, and friends! It's always worth it :) ![]()
